Day 120:

Light room

Behind the scenes:

today was the day of my hall's performance

i'm in charge of the lights

which is the room right at the back of the audience

dark, unseen and just a little forgotten

but i like to think of it as controlling the magic in the dark

i have always been fascinated with the lights for theater performances

after doing a photo coverage for NUSstage back in 2011

so for the past year

i was also in-charge of lights

for my hall's production

and i love the job

the production team this year was small

 but the time spent rehearsing with everyone was unforgatable

Day 119:

lights at lasalle

Behind the scenes:

today was bunking-in period at Lasalle

for my hall's production

i was in-charge of the lights 

and i had a lot of fun

staging different lights for different scenes

with gobos and colors

tomorrow's the actual performance!!

Day 118:

plain vanilla

Behind the scenes:

i have been craving for cakes lately

so i went out with Asvin, Dhwani and my sis 

to get some cupcakes

this friday was good friday

a public holiday

which means a long weekend

took a portrait of Dhwani 

just love it

it was Asvin's first time at Plain Vanilla

and there were only three type of cupcakes left

i think it's because of the long weekend

pretty sad

Iff and I then decide to have dinner at The Star Vista

I've never had Japanese Curry Rice before

and my sis seemed to love it

so we went to Coco Ichibanaya

and i can't believe that i have 

never eaten this pure awesomeness before

i practically cleaned up the entire plate

Model of the day: Justin

had my hall's production rehearsal today

and i'm in-charge of the lights

one of the props for the play was a bear mask 

and it was done perfectly

and there was the smoke machine too

although it smelt really bad

the effect was good

Day 116:

blessed bride

Behind the scenes:

i had a tremendous opportunity to cover 

Gowri's sister, Kamini's "after-math wedding"

which is where the relatives and in-laws bless the couples

it was a beautiful ceremony

the newly-wed couple looked really great together

and their grandmother is super cute!

iphone

Behind the scenes:

my iphone died on me today

the screen was the white screen of death

and no matter how many times i tried to resuscitate it

it still gave me the white screen

so  i went over to the stores at Clementi to repair it

and the apparent solution was to get a new screen

Riding the MRT

a little dip into abstract 

went home for a bit

to have some chit-chat time with my mom

and visited my little niece

she's just so adorable

and we kept spoiling her

today i was part of the group of instructors

teaching experimental photography 

it includes smoke, water droplets, freelancing and bokeh techniques

my section was making white and black background

Day 112:

bangle ceremony

Behind the scenes:

Gowri asked me to photograph her sister's bangle ceremony

it was a very colourful and exciting "event"

where, as i understand it, the future bride 

is being blessed by married relatives and future-in-laws

it was super fun

editing photos in the process

the highlight of the day

was playing with Gowri's pet hamster, Baci

which meant "kiss" in Italian

Behind the scenes:

i went out with Shi Ying, our publicity director

to take photos of venues of Montage2013 

using the tilt-shift borrowed from Canon

since we used animal heads for the trailer video

we decide to use the animal head for further publicity

Shi Ying and I went from school to Serangoon 

to Dhoby Chaut

to Harbourfront

and then back to school for meeting

Day 109:

Eye-phone

Behind the scenes:

my sis just love eyes for some reason

it all started with an eye-ring present from her friend

and the addiction starts

i think she has like 3 or 4 eye rings

today she drew eyes on her fingers

because the lecture was boring

my sis's friend invited my sis and i

over to utown for dinner

and i borrowed the tilt-shift lens 

that canon generously lent NUSPS for publicity purposes

it was surprisingly difficult to handle 

but the effect is freaking awesome

the NUS 'D' bus service

a couple on the bus

had Cedele's cake 

Chocolate Spring Cake

one of the best things i love about U-Town

is the rainbow lights

Day 106:

breakfast at botak's

there's this store that is awesome for it's fish dishes near my home

called "Botak"

i had been craving for their kway teow fish soup for weeks

and my family went there for breakfast today

can't stop myself from finishing the soup till the last drop

Day 105:

dissection 

Behind the scenes:

had animal physio lab today

and we are suppose to test the presence of  sodium channels

in the frog's skin

so we had to have freshly killed frogs

so that the skin tissues are still fresh for the experiment

some groups went to another level and dissected the entire frog

maybe i haven't done dissection since secondary 3 bio class

i felt sick looking at the aftermath

Day 104:

late night with BnJs

Behind the scenes:

there was a surprising black-out in my hall today

at around 830pm

it was a good thing i had my laptop battery on 

as i was doing my assignment

when the event happen

it was really interesting

everyone got out of their rooms 

it's like burning an ant's nest and you see 

all the ants scurrying out of the hole

i got to see my neighbors for the first time

whom i had been sharing the level with for the entire year

the black-out happened for an hour

i had ice cream from yesterday in the freezer

so i decided to have a mini ice-cream party with some of my juniors

Date: 13 March 2013

Day 103:

Late night with BnJ's

Behind the scenes:

had a field trip with my class today

to place called "Bollywood Vegies"

it's a pretty cool place

it was totally different from Singapore's

usual buildings landscape

like i stepped into a tame Jurassic Park

the guide for the day: Tony

gave interesting insights on the history of agriculture

after the hot tour

we were given drinks

Figs Tea

and some delicious cakes

including freshly-baked banana cake

the place is so homey

and i love one of the many quotes they put up
